Our verdict on YesPlay

YesPlay is a licensed Western Cape bookmaker run by SA Sportsbook (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in 2013, and it has become one of the more visible local brands thanks to the YesPlay Newlands naming deal. It offers a 100% first deposit bonus up to R3,000, a 20-sport sportsbook with live betting, more than 100 Lucky Numbers lotteries and a long list of deposit methods that starts at R20. The trade-off is in the small print: a 7x wagering rule at odds of 3.10 or higher, a R10 fee after two withdrawals a week and payouts that are only processed on weekdays.

Where YesPlay stands out is breadth of payment options and its Lucky Numbers section. Vouchers such as 1Voucher, OTT, BluVoucher and Kazang sit next to Ozow, Ozow Capitec Pay, SnapScan, Zapper, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay. If you do not have a credit card, or you prefer not to use your bank account for betting, that matters.

The sportsbook is more basic. There are 20 sports and a working live section, but there is no horse racing betting and no ongoing sports promotion such as a multibet boost. Most of the promotions page is aimed at casino and Lucky Numbers players. Regular punters who withdraw often should also note the withdrawal fee and the Monday to Friday processing window.

On HelloPeter the picture is split: praise for fast verification and quick EFT payouts, alongside recurring complaints about withdrawal delays and document requests.

Who YesPlay suits

Punters who like Lucky Numbers and Betgames, who want to deposit small amounts with vouchers or Ozow, and who bet on soccer, rugby and cricket without needing specialist features. The welcome bonus also suits players who are comfortable betting at longer odds.

Who should look elsewhere

Horse racing bettors, punters chasing regular sports promotions or a loyalty scheme, and anyone who withdraws several times a week or needs money paid out over a weekend. If low-odds multibets are your style, the 3.10 minimum odds on the bonus will be awkward.

How we reviewed YesPlay

We rate every bookmaker with the same nine-category model, covering licensing and safety, sign-up, the sportsbook, bonuses, payments, mobile, support, responsible gambling and reputation. For this review we used YesPlay’s own pages (home page, terms and conditions, promotions page and offer terms, payout limits, regulations, responsible gambling policy, contact page, help pages and mobile page), the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board’s licence holder list, the YesPlay listing on Apple’s South African App Store, YesPlay’s HelloPeter profile and news reports from South African and sports business outlets. We do not use other review sites. See how we rate bookmakers.

Is YesPlay legit? Licensing and safety

Yes. YesPlay is the trading name of SA Sportsbook (Pty) Ltd, company registration number 2013/016123/07, which places the company’s registration in 2013. Its terms and conditions, site footer and regulations page all name the same company and the same licence: bookmaker licence number 10180204-013 issued by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB).

The footer gives the licence issue date as 26 November 2025. SA Sportsbook (Pty) Ltd also appears under “Licence holders: bookmakers” on the WCGRB website, so the claim can be checked against the regulator’s own list rather than taken on trust.

The company gives a physical address at 4 Bree Street, Cape Town, Western Cape, 8001. Its chief executive is Tebogo Makamo, named in YesPlay’s own announcement of the Newlands sponsorship. The privacy policy names an information officer and a deputy with their own email addresses.

The site footer says the platform is powered by CDP Gaming Technologies.

A few account rules are worth knowing from the start. You must be 18 or older. Bets cannot be cancelled unless an error is reported immediately, and never once the event has started. Winnings must be claimed within 90 days of becoming payable. If you deposit from someone else’s account, YesPlay may refund it with a R120 admin fee, so always pay from an account in your own name.

We found no regulator sanction, fine or licence action against YesPlay or SA Sportsbook in news searches. The one critical news item, covered in the reputation section below, concerned fraud money being moved through customer accounts, which YesPlay suspended and reported.

What to do if you have a dispute with YesPlay

YesPlay’s terms set out a two-step complaints route. First, email your complaint to support@yesplay.bet, which is the official complaints address as well as the general support address. Include your username, the bet or transaction reference, dates, amounts and screenshots, and keep a copy of everything you send.

If you are not happy with the answer, you can escalate the matter to the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board at Complaints.Compliance@wcgrb.co.za. Because YesPlay is licensed in the Western Cape, the WCGRB is the right regulator for your complaint, wherever in South Africa you live.

Be aware that the terms allow YesPlay to withhold disputed funds until the complaint is resolved. This means a dispute over a large win can tie up your balance for a while, so respond quickly to any request for documents.

YesPlay sign-up and FICA verification

You can browse YesPlay’s sports and live odds without an account, which is useful if you want to look at markets before committing. To place a bet you need to register, and the welcome bonus asks you to accept the offer when signing up. There is no promo code to enter.

Like every licensed South African bookmaker, YesPlay must verify your identity under FICA. The YesPlay FICA documents named in the terms are:

  • A South African identity document
  • Proof of residence not older than 3 months
  • Further documents if YesPlay requests them for large transactions

Once YesPlay asks for identity verification, the terms give you 21 days to provide it. Leaving it longer can cause problems with your account, so it is sensible to upload your documents as soon as you register rather than waiting for your first withdrawal.

The terms also explain when extra checks kick in. Deposits or withdrawals over R5,000, or R25,000 or more within 30 days, may be investigated. Any payout of R25,000 or more requires FICA identification. YesPlay also says it may give two business days’ notice for compliance verification before paying.

YesPlay’s help section has questions about what you need to open an account, what counts as proof of residence, FICA documents in general and whether non-South African citizens can register. Check those pages if your situation is unusual, for example if your proof of address is in someone else’s name.

The welcome bonus is not open to previous account holders, and multiple accounts breach YesPlay’s bonus abuse rules.

YesPlay sportsbook: sports, leagues and live betting

The YesPlay sportsbook is a general-purpose book rather than a specialist one. It lists 20 sports, offers pre-match and live betting, and lets you browse odds before you sign up. It covers the sports most South Africans bet on, with one notable gap: horse racing.

YesPlay sportsbook showing soccer matches from LaLiga, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and the Primeira Liga with 1x2, total and handicap odds, plus tabs for basketball, cricket, tennis and rugby
The YesPlay sportsbook, with soccer odds and tabs for basketball, cricket, tennis and rugby.

Sports and leagues

The 20 sports listed are soccer, basketball, cricket, tennis, rugby, baseball, volleyball, ice hockey, table tennis, American football, handball, futsal, Aussie rules, MMA, boxing, snooker, darts, water polo, badminton and squash.

Soccer is the biggest section, and it is where most punters will spend their time. If you are new to PSL betting, our guide to betting on the DStv Premiership explains the main markets and how to approach local fixtures.

Live betting

YesPlay has a dedicated live section, and the terms refer to “Live In-Play” betting. On testing, the live section showed 135 events in progress, including 74 soccer matches, 20 basketball games, 16 American football games and 12 volleyball matches.

Numbers rise and fall with the fixture list, but it shows live betting is not limited to soccer.

Live bets count towards the welcome bonus wagering in the same way as pre-match bets, provided the odds are 3.10 or higher. Remember that only settled bets count, so a live bet still running when your 7 days end will not help you.

Betting features and rules

YesPlay keeps things simple: pre-match and live markets, with odds you can browse before logging in. The payout limit on sports bets is R2 million per bet, covered in detail in the next section.

Check the bet cancellation rule before you click “place bet”. YesPlay will only consider cancelling a bet if you report an error immediately, and never once the event has started. In other words, double-check your stake and selections, because there is no undo button.

Also note that YesPlay does not run a multibet boost, acca insurance or regular odds specials on its promotions page. If those extras are part of how you bet, compare it with a bookmaker that offers them, such as those in our Betway review or Supabets review.

What YesPlay does not offer

There is no horse racing betting at YesPlay. Horse racing is not one of the 20 sports, and the only racing product is “Horse Racing Auto Roulette”, which is a numbers-style game rather than betting on real races.

There is also no esports section in the sports list. If you bet mainly on horses or on esports, YesPlay should be a secondary account at most.

Sportsbook score6.3 / 10

The sportsbook is 18% of the overall score. How we rate bookmakers

YesPlay maximum payouts and win limits

YesPlay publishes a dedicated payout limits page, which is more than many bookmakers do. The key figure for sports bettors is R2 million per bet, and the overall cap is R30 million per customer per day across all products, measured over 24 hours in South African time.

Product Maximum payout
Sports (pre-match and live) R2,000,000 per bet
Lucky Numbers R2,000,000 per single bet; R2,000,000 per combination bet
Betgames R1,000,000 on-demand and live; R2,000,000 crash; R20,000 classic
Spribe (Aviator) R10,000,000
Habanero and Evolution live R30,000,000
Free spins winnings R10,000
All products combined R30,000,000 per customer per day

Worked example: say you place a R5,000 multibet at combined odds of 500.00. On paper that returns R2,500,000. Because the sports cap is R2 million per bet, YesPlay would pay R2,000,000, and the extra R500,000 is lost. A R4,000 stake at the same odds already reaches the cap, so anything above that adds risk without adding reward.

Also keep in mind the welcome bonus has its own ceiling: the most you can withdraw from bonus winnings is R30,000. And any payout of R25,000 or more requires FICA identification, so a big win means paperwork before payment.

YesPlay bonuses and promotions

The YesPlay welcome bonus is a straightforward 100% deposit match up to R3,000, and it can be used across sports, casino and Lucky Numbers. Beyond that, the promotions page leans heavily towards casino games and Lucky Numbers. There is no sports-specific ongoing promotion, no multibet boost, no loyalty or VIP scheme and no no-deposit sign-up offer.

YesPlay promotions page with the 100% deposit bonus up to R3,000 from a R20 deposit, valid for 7 days, next to slots tournaments
YesPlay’s promotions page, led by the 100% deposit bonus up to R3,000.

100% first deposit bonus up to R3,000

YesPlay matches 100% of your first deposit after you accept the offer, up to a maximum bonus of R3,000. You need to deposit at least R20, and that deposit must be made within 7 days of registering. You accept the bonus during sign-up; there is no code.

The wagering requirement is 7x your deposit plus bonus, completed within 7 days of accepting the offer. Only settled bets count. Sports and live sports bets count at odds of 3.10 or higher, and Lucky Numbers bets count at odds of 2.95 or higher. Other products contribute less:

  • Betgames at odds of 1.50 or higher: 10% contribution
  • Slots: 10%
  • Ezugi and Pragmatic Play: 3%
  • Evolution games: 2%

Worked example in rands: you deposit R500 and receive a R500 bonus, giving you R1,000. Seven times R1,000 is R7,000, so you must place R7,000 in settled sports bets at odds of 3.10 or more within 7 days. That is R1,000 a day in qualifying bets for a week. If you play slots instead, each R100 spin counts as only R10, so you would need R70,000 of slot play to clear the same R7,000.

At the top end, a R3,000 deposit earns a R3,000 bonus, and the wagering becomes R42,000 (7 x R6,000) in 7 days. The most you can withdraw from bonus winnings is R30,000.

If the 7 days run out before you finish, the bonus is lost and only up to the amount you deposited returns to your account as deposit money. The offer cannot be combined with other promotions, and previous account holders are not eligible.

The bonus works with these deposit methods: 1Voucher, 1Voucher direct, aCoin, card, OTT, Kazang, BluVoucher, OZOW, SnapScan, Zapper, SCode, OZOW Capitec Pay, Apple Pay, EasyLoad, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, EasyPay and YesPlay Voucher.

Is it a good deal? The R30,000 cap is generous compared with the bonus size, and R20 is a very low entry point. The 3.10 minimum odds are the real hurdle, because they push you towards riskier bets. If you are unsure how rollover works, read our explainer on what wagering requirements are, and compare with the Betway South Africa bonus and the GBets South Africa bonus, or browse all current betting bonuses in South Africa.

Ongoing promotions

These were the other offers listed on the promotions page when we tested:

  • Lucky Numbers cashback: 10% back on Lucky Numbers losses, paid the following Monday, with a minimum bet of R5.
  • Hot Hot Braai: a Habanero leaderboard with a R1,000,000 prize pool across the top 15,000 places, minimum bet R1.
  • Amber Vault: a Habanero daily jackpot worth R1,560,000, played between 8pm and 10pm over 28 days, minimum bet R1.
  • Reel Showdown: an Evolution and Red Tiger promotion with a R500,000 pool split into 250 prizes of R2,000; wager R50 to take part, runs for 7 days.
  • Drops and Wins: a Pragmatic Play promotion with up to 100 bonus spins, minimum bet R3.

YesPlay deposits and withdrawals

YesPlay is strong on deposits and weaker on withdrawals: you can fund your account in many ways, but withdrawals carry a minimum, a weekly free allowance and weekday-only processing.

Deposit methods

Method type Options at YesPlay
Instant EFT Ozow, Ozow Capitec Pay, instant EFT
Vouchers 1Voucher, 1Voucher direct, OTT, BluVoucher, Kazang, EasyLoad, EasyPay, SCode, aCoin, YesPlay Voucher
Mobile wallets and QR Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, SnapScan, Zapper
Cards Credit and debit cards (terms allow a 5% admin fee)
Bank EFT, branch deposit, cardless ATM deposit

The YesPlay minimum deposit for the welcome bonus is R20. Capitec clients can use Ozow Capitec Pay, and anyone who prefers cash can buy a voucher at a shop. Our guides to betting sites that accept Ozow and voucher betting sites explain how each works.

One important rule: YesPlay’s terms say the full value of every deposit must be wagered at least once before you can withdraw it. Deposit R200, and you need to place R200 in bets before that money can be withdrawn.

Withdrawal methods

Method Notes
Same method as deposit The terms say withdrawals are processed back to the payment method you used to deposit
EFT to your bank account Standard option; R100 minimum
Instant withdrawal voucher Covered in the terms as an instant withdrawal option
Instant Money (ATM withdrawal) Collect cash at an ATM without needing to deposit to a bank account

The minimum YesPlay withdrawal is R100. The maximum is R100,000 per day and R500,000 per calendar month. YesPlay says payments are activated Monday to Friday between 09h00 and 16h00, and that while it aims to pay in real time, payouts may take up to 48 hours. A request made on Friday afternoon may therefore not move until Monday.

Which withdrawal method should you use?

  • If you have a bank account in your own name, EFT is the obvious choice, and many positive HelloPeter reviews describe EFT payouts arriving within minutes to a few days. Our guide to EFT betting sites covers the basics.
  • If you do not have a bank account, the Instant Money ATM option lets you collect cash.
  • Because withdrawals go back to your deposit method, choose your deposit method with withdrawals in mind.
  • Batch your withdrawals: two a week are free, so one larger withdrawal is cheaper than several small ones.
  • Withdraw during the week, ideally in the morning, to fit inside the 09h00 to 16h00 processing window.

How to withdraw from YesPlay, step by step

  1. Make sure your FICA documents (ID and proof of residence not older than 3 months) are approved.
  2. Check that each deposit has been wagered at least once and that any bonus wagering is complete.
  3. Log in and open the withdrawal section of your account.
  4. Choose your withdrawal method; it should match the method you deposited with.
  5. Enter an amount of R100 or more and submit the request.
  6. Allow up to 48 hours; YesPlay only activates payments Monday to Friday, 09h00 to 16h00.
  7. If YesPlay asks for extra documents or proof of payment, send them promptly to avoid delays.

Fees to know about

  • Withdrawal fee: two free withdrawals a week, then R10 per withdrawal request.
  • Card deposits: the terms allow a 5% admin fee on credit and debit card deposits. On a R1,000 deposit that would be R50, so consider Ozow or a voucher instead. See our page on Mastercard betting sites if you prefer cards.
  • Third-party deposits: deposits from an account that is not yours may be refunded with a R120 admin fee.
  • Dormant accounts: after 6 months of inactivity, YesPlay deducts R50 a month and may close the account.
  • Unwagered deposits: not a fee, but deposits must be wagered once before they can be withdrawn.
Payments score10.0 / 10

Payments are 16% of the overall score. How we rate bookmakers

YesPlay Lucky Numbers, Betgames and other games

YesPlay Lucky Numbers is one of the brand’s core products. YesPlay says it offers more than 100 lotteries from around the world, including 49s, Gosloto and Keno 20/80. Lucky Numbers bets count towards the welcome bonus at odds of 2.95 or higher, a slightly lower bar than sports, and the 10% Monday cashback softens losing weeks.

Betgames is also prominent, with live draw games such as Lucky 5, Lucky 6, Dice Duel and Wheel of Fortune. There is a “BetGames Low Data” category, which is useful if you are playing on a limited data bundle.

YesPlay also has a large casino-style section, with slots and live games from Evolution, Pragmatic Play, Habanero, Spribe (Aviator), Ezugi and others. The “Horse Racing Auto Roulette” game sits in this area. This review focuses on sports betting, so we do not cover the casino in depth; just remember that slots and live casino games contribute only 2% to 10% towards the welcome bonus.

YesPlay app and mobile site

The YesPlay app is available on iPhone through the South African App Store, listed as “YesPlay: Live Casino and Slots” and sold by SA Sportsbook (Pty) Ltd. On testing, it was rated 4.1 out of 5 from more than 4,100 ratings. The listing shows version 3.3.1, a 46.3 MB download, an 18+ age rating and support for iPhone running iOS 15.0 or later.

For Android, YesPlay offers the app as an APK file downloaded from its mobile page at yesplay.bet, with install instructions on the same page. Because it comes from outside an app store, your phone will ask you to allow installation from that source. Only download the file from YesPlay’s own site. The site also links to a Huawei AppGallery listing.

If you would rather not install anything, you can use YesPlay through your phone’s browser instead. You can browse odds without logging in, which makes it easy to check prices on the go.

YesPlay customer care number and support

YesPlay offers several ways to get help. Its contact page lists live chat on the website, a phone line, email and social media:

  • Phone: 087 250 0575, the YesPlay customer care number
  • Email: support@yesplay.bet (also the official complaints address)
  • Live chat: on the YesPlay website
  • Social media: Facebook, Telegram, X (@yesplaysa) and Instagram (yesplay_official)

There is no WhatsApp support line on the contact page. The only WhatsApp number on the site belongs to the national responsible gambling helpline.

For quick questions, live chat or the phone line is the natural first stop. For anything involving money, email gives you a written record, which matters if you later escalate to the WCGRB.

Reviews of YesPlay’s support on HelloPeter are mixed. Some customers praise quick verification, while others complain about slow or inconsistent answers, including a case of a deposit not being credited after 7 days. If you do not get a satisfactory reply, follow the complaints route described in the safety section.

Responsible gambling at YesPlay

YesPlay shows the National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP) helpline in its site footer and on its responsible gambling page. The toll-free number is 0800 006 008, and you can also WhatsApp “HELP” to 076 675 0710.

YesPlay’s responsible gambling policy offers temporary suspension of your account for 1 to 3 months, or a longer self-exclusion. You request either by emailing support@yesplay.bet, rather than switching it on yourself in your account. YesPlay also offers the national exclusion form, which requires a photo of yourself holding your ID and a copy of your ID or passport.

When the period ends, you must send a written request to support to reactivate the account, and YesPlay does not allow early reactivation. That is a sensible safeguard: if you choose a break, you get the full break.

YesPlay accepts only customers aged 18 or older. It also runs a community programme called YesCares, which has supported causes such as Hokisa Homes for Kids and the Little Lambs daycare.

YesPlay reputation and complaints

On testing, YesPlay’s HelloPeter profile showed a TrustIndex of 7.4 to 7.5 out of 10, based on about 270 reviews in the past 12 months and 1,438 reviews in total. Over the past 12 months, 56.8% of reviews gave 5 stars and 29.9% gave 1 star, with few in between. Reviewers tend to be either happy after a quick payout or unhappy when money is held.

The most common complaint is withdrawal delays, often linked to repeated requests for documents or proof of payment before a payout is released. Other recurring themes are slow or inconsistent support, deposits not credited, blocked accounts and complaints about casino results and app stability. On the positive side, many reviewers report fast verification and EFT withdrawals arriving within minutes to 3 days.

YesPlay replies to negative reviews, and its profile states a 100% response rate to them, with an average response time of 42 hours 10 minutes. Some of the most recent negative reviews had no reply yet when we checked.

In the news, YesPlay has built a high profile through sport sponsorship. In January 2025 it became a sponsor of the Free State Cheetahs, in 2025 it sponsored the YesPlay Pro20 Cup with Cricket South Africa, and in September 2026 Newlands was renamed YesPlay Newlands Cricket Ground under a four-year naming rights deal that includes sponsorship of the WP Cobras.

In December 2025, an amaBhungane investigation published by Daily Maverick reported that about R170,000 stolen in a bank-impersonation fraud was moved through accounts at YesPlay and Hollywoodbets. YesPlay confirmed the deposits, suspended the accounts and reported them to the Financial Intelligence Centre. No sanction against YesPlay was reported.

Tips for betting at YesPlay

  • Upload your FICA documents straight away. An approved account means fewer delays when you want to withdraw, especially for payouts of R25,000 or more.
  • Consider Ozow or vouchers rather than a card. The terms allow a 5% admin fee on card deposits; they do not mention a similar fee for Ozow or vouchers.
  • Plan your bonus before you accept it. R7,000 of bets at 3.10 or higher in 7 days on a R500 deposit is a lot; deposit an amount you can realistically roll over.
  • Stick to two withdrawals a week. After that, each request costs R10.
  • Withdraw on weekdays. Payouts are processed Monday to Friday, 09h00 to 16h00, so avoid Friday afternoon requests if you need the money soon.
  • Keep your account active or close it. After 6 months without activity, YesPlay deducts R50 a month.
