Our verdict on Mzansibet

Mzansibet is a young brand on an old licence: the name arrived in 2025 with a national TV campaign, but the company behind it, SMS2Bet Betting Services, has held its Western Cape bookmaker licence since January 2014. Its sports welcome offer is small but unusually clean, a R50 Extra Bet whose winnings carry no wagering at all. The weak spots are on the way out: slow stated withdrawal times, a R5,000 ceiling on every withdrawal method and a poor HelloPeter record.

The sportsbook runs on the SOFTSWISS platform, covers 31 sports and lists bet builders, cash out and price boosts. Deposits start at R10 with an Easypay voucher, lower than the R50 that Sportingbet, Sunbet and Bettabets ask.

R50 looks modest next to YesPlay’s 100% up to R3,000, but YesPlay asks for 7x wagering and Play.co.za for 29x. Mzansibet pays Extra Bet winnings straight to cash, which is easier to turn into real money than a large match bonus.

Withdrawals are where it falls behind. Its own pages give three different timings, from 1 to 3 business days up to 1 to 7 working days, while GBets and Bettabets both say within 24 hours. Reviews split sharply too: 4.6 out of 5 on Trustpilot, but 1.2 on HelloPeter.

Who Mzansibet suits

Low-stakes soccer and multi-sport punters who want a no-wagering welcome offer, like paying with vouchers, SnapScan or Zapper, and do not mind waiting a few days for a payout.

Who should look elsewhere

Horse racing fans, anyone who needs same-day withdrawals, and high rollers who want to cash out big wins in one go.

How we reviewed Mzansibet

We rate every bookmaker with the same nine-category model, so a new brand like Mzansibet is judged on the same terms as long-established names. The review draws on the bookmaker’s own pages, the gambling board’s licence records, app store listings, customer reviews and news coverage. Where Mzansibet’s own pages disagree, we say so and tell you which wording to rely on. See how we rate bookmakers.

Is Mzansibet legit? Licensing and safety

Yes. Mzansibet is a trading name of SMS2Bet Betting Services (Pty) Ltd (registration 2009/007749/07), licensed and regulated by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB). SMS2Bet appears on the board’s bookmaker list, and its licence was first issued in January 2014.

The two official sites quote different licence numbers: 10144175-017 in the sportsbook footer and 10144175-016 in the casino terms. Both name the same company and board, so it looks administrative rather than worrying, but quote the sportsbook number in any complaint. The casino terms give a notice address at 360 Business Park, Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, and the email info@mzansibet.com.

The brand launched by July 2025 as SOFTSWISS’s first South African project, and SOFTSWISS says the sportsbook and casino were certified by Gaming Laboratories International (GLI). News coverage shows no fines or sanctions.

One warning: the only official site is mzansibet.com. Lookalike domains copy the branding, so type the address yourself.

What to do if you have a dispute with Mzansibet

Mzansibet’s terms say disputes go to Mzansibet first, then the WCGRB, and that players may also approach the WCGRB directly. Start with live chat or support@mzansibet.com, keeping reference numbers and screenshots. If that fails, contact the WCGRB with your account details, the licence number and your evidence.

Mzansibet sign-up and FICA

Sign-up is standard, with one useful extra: the offer terms mention an automatic FICA check at registration. If it confirms your identity, you are verified straight away; if not, you upload documents. The Mzansibet FICA documents are:

  • A certified copy of your ID document or driver’s licence
  • Proof of residence (bank statement or utility bill not older than three months)

Upload them on the Documents page or email support@mzansibet.com. The welcome offer is limited to one per customer, household, device, IP address, email and bank account.

Mzansibet sportsbook: 31 sports, no racing

For a new brand the menu is wide: 31 sports, from soccer, rugby and cricket to chess, biathlon, Gaelic hurling and stock car racing, plus Schedule, Results and Statistics pages.

Mzansibet soccer page with featured matches, in-play and upcoming fixtures
The soccer page groups fixtures by country, with featured matches and in-play games at the top.

Sports and leagues

The mainstream sports are all there: tennis, basketball, golf, Formula 1, boxing, MMA, darts, snooker and more. Soccer has its own Football and Soccer page, the natural starting point for PSL betting.

Live betting and cash out

There is an In-Play section with live statistics, and cash out is offered; the welcome terms even exclude cashed-out bets.

Bet builder and boosts

Mzansibet lists bet builders, price boosts and bonus bets. They are useful tools, but not a reason on their own to pick Mzansibet over a bigger brand such as Betway.

What is not offered

There is no horse racing, the same gap as at GBets and YesPlay. Esports are not listed.

Sportsbook score9.3 / 10

Mzansibet maximum payouts: high cap, low cashier limits

The Betting Rules set a R1,000,000 maximum sports payout, far above Bettabets’ R50,000 single-bet cap, though below Play.co.za’s R2 million. Some leagues are capped lower.

Bet typeMaximum payout
Sports betting (standard)R1,000,000
Some lower leagues (example: a lower women’s league)R400,000

Worked example: a R200 accumulator at combined odds of 7,500.00 would return R1,500,000 on paper, but Mzansibet pays R1,000,000. The tighter limit is the cashier: no withdrawal method goes above R5,000, so ask support how big wins are paid before staking heavily.

Mzansibet welcome bonus and promotions

The Mzansibet welcome bonus for sports is a bet-and-get with no wagering on winnings, unlike match bonuses at YesPlay (7x) or Bettabets (8x bonus plus 1x deposit). If wagering requirements usually put you off, it is one of the simplest offers around. Casino players get a much bigger, separate package.

Mzansibet promotions page with the Bet R50 Get R50 first bet offer and weekly sports cashback
Only two sports promotions show: the Bet R50, Get R50 first bet offer and a weekly sports cashback.

Bet R50, Get R50 (sports)

After passing FICA, place a first sports bet of R50 or more, single or multiple, at odds of 2.00 or higher. When it settles, win or lose, you get a R50 Extra Bet. Cashed-out, void and Games bets do not qualify.

Use the Extra Bet within 7 days, in one go, at odds of 2.00 to 20.00, and not on Bet Builder (tap the present icon in the betslip). The stake is not returned, but winnings are paid as cash. Example: your R50 first bet loses; your Extra Bet at 3.00 wins, and you receive R100 in cash with nothing to wager.

Casino welcome: up to R21,000 plus 300 spins

Five deposits: 100% up to R5,000 plus 100 spins; 50% up to R5,000; 100% up to R3,000 plus 100 spins; 50% up to R5,000; 100% up to R3,000 plus 100 spins. That matches Betfred’s R21,000 headline. Wagering is set per offer, so read each tier’s terms before depositing, and compare on our betting bonuses page.

  • Weekly Sports Cashback: 10% back, up to R5,000.
  • Casino tournaments and Royal Safari Club: both run in the casino section.

OTT voucher1 to 7 working daysR300 to R3,000

Mzansibet’s pages disagree on timing: the FAQ says 1 to 3 business days, the casino terms say processing takes up to five business days, and the table above says up to 7 working days. Rely on the terms and plan for the longer end.

Which withdrawal method should you use?

  • Nedbank Cardless for the fastest stated payout, 1 working day.
  • EFT secure for small amounts, from R100.
  • OTT voucher only if you want a voucher; its R3,000 ceiling is the lowest.

How to withdraw from Mzansibet, step by step

  1. Complete FICA with your ID and proof of residence.
  2. Open the cashier and choose to withdraw.
  3. Pick EFT secure, OTT voucher or Nedbank Cardless.
  4. Enter an amount within that method’s limits and confirm.

Fees to know about

  • All deposit and withdrawal methods are listed as free, and Mzansibet says it covers recipient deposit costs.
  • Your bank or voucher provider may still charge its own fees.

Other games: Betgames, Aviator and casino

BetGames and the Aviator crash game sit in the main menu. Lucky Numbers does not appear in the Mzansibet menu, so lottery-style punters are better served by YesPlay’s 100+ draws (see our YesPlay review). The casino on games.mzansibet.com adds slots, live roulette, blackjack, baccarat and game shows; we do not cover casino games in depth here.

Mzansibet app and mobile site

We found no Mzansibet listing on the App Store or Google Play, so most players will bet through the mobile site. SOFTSWISS describes the product as optimised for mobile, and one Trustpilot reviewer calls the app user-friendly. Saving mzansibet.com to your home screen gives one-tap access and keeps you away from lookalike sites in search results.

Mzansibet customer care number and support

Support is a strength. Mzansibet offers 24/7 live chat, email at support@mzansibet.com and a phone line, 021 140 7819, for urgent matters. Round-the-clock chat matches GBets and beats Sportingbet’s 07:00 to 22:00.

Several Trustpilot reviewers praise quick replies. For a missing withdrawal, use chat first, then follow up by email so you have a written record.

Responsible gambling at Mzansibet

Mzansibet offers deposit, loss and session limits, reality checks, time-outs, cooling-off periods, self-exclusion and voluntary closure. Setting a deposit limit on day one is the simplest safeguard.

Mzansibet reputation: two very different pictures

On Trustpilot, mzansibet.com scores 4.6 out of 5 from 554 reviews, 78% of them five-star, with praise for bonuses, free spins, fast support and easy withdrawals.

HelloPeter tells the opposite story: an unclaimed profile with a 1.2 average from 15 reviews, 93.3% one-star, and a note that the business does not respond. Recent complaints include a withdrawal not processed (October 2026) and an account locked with funds since April (September 2026). Withdrawal delays and uncredited bonuses also feature in Trustpilot’s negative reviews, which go unanswered there too. That puts Mzansibet with Bettabets and Scorebet, not Betfred, which replies to 87% of HelloPeter reviews.

Tips for betting at Mzansibet

  • Use the Extra Bet on longer odds. The stake is not returned but winnings are cash, so a pick around 3.00 gets more from R50 than a short favourite.
  • FICA first, bet second. Verify early so neither the offer nor your first withdrawal waits on paperwork.
  • Withdraw in smaller amounts. With limits of R3,000 to R5,000 per method, regular withdrawals beat one large request.
  • Bookmark mzansibet.com. Lookalike sites use the brand name.

Mzansibet questions

Is Mzansibet legit and legal in South Africa?

Yes. Mzansibet is a trading name of SMS2Bet Betting Services (Pty) Ltd, licensed and regulated by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board since January 2014. The company appears on the board’s bookmaker list. The sportsbook footer shows licence number 10144175-017 and the casino site 10144175-016. Only use mzansibet.com, never lookalike domains.

Who owns Mzansibet?

Mzansibet is operated by SMS2Bet Betting Services (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2009/007749/07, based at 360 Business Park in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town. No parent group is named. The brand launched by July 2025 on the SOFTSWISS sportsbook and casino platforms, backed by a national TV advertising campaign.

What is the Mzansibet minimum deposit?

R10 with an Easypay voucher. BluVoucher and OTT voucher start at R20, and the other methods, including EFT secure, SnapScan and Zapper, start at R50. All deposits are free and instant. To claim the sports welcome offer you need a first bet of at least R50, so plan your first deposit around that.

How long does a Mzansibet withdrawal take?

Mzansibet’s pages disagree. The FAQ says 1 to 3 business days, the casino terms allow up to five business days for processing, and the payments table says 1 to 7 working days for EFT and OTT vouchers. Nedbank Cardless is listed at 1 working day. Plan for the longer timings and finish FICA first.

What is the Mzansibet welcome bonus?

Bet R50, Get R50. Place a first sports bet of R50 or more at odds of 2.00 or higher, and a R50 Extra Bet arrives when it settles, win or lose. Use it within 7 days on odds of 2.00 to 20.00; winnings are cash with no wagering. A separate casino offer gives up to R21,000 plus 300 spins.

Does Mzansibet have an app?

We found no Mzansibet listing on the App Store or Google Play. The SOFTSWISS platform is described as optimised for mobile, so you can bet in your phone’s browser. Add mzansibet.com to your home screen for one-tap access, which also helps you avoid lookalike sites that copy the Mzansibet name in search results.

What is the Mzansibet customer care number?

The phone number is 021 140 7819, which Mzansibet says is for urgent matters. Live chat runs 24/7, and you can email support@mzansibet.com, the same address used for FICA documents. Keep chat references and emails in case you need to take a complaint to the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board.

What is the maximum payout at Mzansibet?

The Betting Rules set a maximum sports payout of R1,000,000, with lower caps on some leagues; a lower women’s league is capped at R400,000 in the rules’ example. Each withdrawal method tops out at R5,000 or less, so ask support how a large win is paid before placing a big bet.
