Our verdict on ZARbet: a casino-first newcomer with a R10 million ceiling

ZARbet is a Cape Town bookmaker licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board since March 2024, and it leads with casino rather than sport. Its 200% first deposit match up to R2,000 is a bigger percentage than any other bookmaker we have reviewed, but it is aimed at slots and carries 30x wagering. Sports punters get a capable sportsbook with cash out and a R10 million payout cap. The weak spots are a R250 minimum withdrawal, weekday-only payouts and almost no public track record.

The bonus is the clearest difference. Sports-led rivals mostly ask for 3x to 8x rollover; ZARbet’s 30x is closer to Play.co.za’s 29x, and its terms say deposit match bonus money cannot be used on the Sportsbook. A R100 deposit brings R200 in bonus funds and R6,000 of wagering.

Limits are where ZARbet shines. R10 million per sports bet, with the same figure as a daily net cap, sits far above Bettabets’ R50,000 single-bet limit and Play.co.za’s R2 million per bet.

Withdrawals are slower. ZARbet says they process within 48 hours, on weekdays only, against the 24-hour promise at GBets and Bettabets.

Who ZARbet suits

Slot players who want the largest percentage match and accept 30x wagering, high-stakes sports bettors who need a cap that will not bite, and punters who like boosted odds on a sportsbook they can browse without an account.

Who should look elsewhere

Sports bettors who want a sign-up bonus for sport, small-stakes players who want to withdraw less than R250, anyone who needs weekend payouts, and punters who want to read other customers’ reviews first. For the country’s biggest brand with 24/7 support, read our Betway review.

How we reviewed ZARbet

Every bookmaker on this site is rated with the same nine-category model. For this ZARbet review we drew on the bookmaker’s own pages and terms, the gambling board’s licence records, app store listings, customer review platforms and news coverage. See how we rate bookmakers.

Is ZARbet legit? A young brand with a Western Cape licence

Yes. ZARbet South Africa is run by Apollo Gaming (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2024/307627/07. Its footer states that the company is licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board under bookmaker licence 10010581-031, first issued on 28 March 2024, and the board’s register lists Apollo Gaming among its licensed bookmakers.

The homepage FAQ quotes a different number, 10010581-029. The footer and the dedicated WCGRB page both say 10010581-031, so rely on that one.

The company’s PAIA manual names William Frederick Reyneke as CEO, and the office is at Spaces V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Shareholders and any parent group are not disclosed. The footer links to the WCGRB, the National Gambling Board and the Financial Intelligence Centre, and no sanctions, fines or data breaches involving ZARbet have been reported.

What to do if you have a dispute with ZARbet

Complain to Customer Service first. ZARbet promises a reply “within a few days” and in any event within 28 days. If that fails, the matter goes to management, and then you can lodge a patron dispute with the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (021 480 7400). The terms say disputes must be lodged within three days of the bet being settled, so act quickly.

ZARbet sign-up and FICA

The sign-up form asks for your date of birth, ID type and number, and source of funds. Documents are requested later, and ZARbet may suspend betting until they arrive. ZARbet FICA checks can include:

  • SA ID book or card, driver’s licence (front and back), SA passport or temporary SA ID
  • A recent utility bill with your name and address
  • A selfie with your ID, at ZARbet’s discretion
  • Proof of source of funds
  • Foreign nationals: passport plus a work, asylum or refugee permit
  • A bank statement for withdrawals after deposits above R5,000

Note the deadline: once you request a withdrawal, documents must be in within 14 days or the withdrawal is reversed into your account.

ZARbet sportsbook: a full menu, but no sports bonuses

Behind the casino branding sits a proper BetConstruct sportsbook that shows odds without an account, so you can compare prices before signing up. On testing it listed about 2,880 prematch events and 51 to 53 live ones.

ZARbet sportsbook with Champions League prematch odds, a match page with a Match Result (Early Payout) market, and a side menu with Multiple Of The Day and Boosted Odds
The ZARbet sportsbook lists Multiple Of The Day and Boosted Odds in the side menu, with an early payout market on match pages.

Sports and leagues

Football is the largest section, followed by tennis, table tennis, ice hockey and basketball. Rugby union, rugby league, cricket, golf, Formula 1, volleyball, handball and baseball also appear, and the sports terms cover boxing, MMA, darts and cycling. For football tips, see our PSL betting guide.

Live betting and cash out

Live betting has its own tab. Full cash out is offered on selected pre-match and live markets for singles and multiples on football, tennis and basketball, with a slider for partial cash out. Free bets cannot be cashed out.

Features

Boosted Odds, a Multiple Of The Day, Quick Bet, a booking ID search and a “Match Result (Early Payout)” market. It is a standard set rather than anything unusual.

What is not offered

Horse racing did not appear in the sports menu. ZARbet does not advertise a bet builder or live streaming, and its promotions page has no acca boosts, cashback or free bets.

Sportsbook score7.8 / 10

The sportsbook is 18% of the overall score. How we rate bookmakers

ZARbet maximum payouts: far above most rivals

For serious punters this is ZARbet’s strongest point. The minimum bet is R1.00.

ProductMaximum payout
Sport (single or multiple)R10,000,000
Lucky NumbersR1,000,000
On-Demand GamesR5,465,500
Instant GamesR2,069,520
Net payout per calendar dayR10,000,000

Worked example: a R500 accumulator at combined odds of 2,500.00 returns R1,250,000. A bookmaker with a R50,000 cap would pay R50,000; at ZARbet the full amount is inside the limit. The limits can only change with the board’s approval.

ZARbet welcome bonus and promotions: big match, heavy wagering

Every named promotion at ZARbet is a casino promotion, including the welcome bonus. Sports bettors should not pick ZARbet for its offers.

ZARbet promotions page with the 200% first deposit match bonus up to R2000 from a R20 deposit and the Late Night Loud Jackpots race to five jackpot payouts
ZARbet promotions are casino led, with the 200% first deposit match as the main welcome offer.

200% first deposit match up to R2,000

The ZARbet welcome bonus matches your first deposit 200% up to R2,000, from R20. Open the Cashier with the yellow Deposit Now button, deposit, click the grey Bonus button, choose Claim a Bonus and enter ZARBET. ZARbet suggests playing it on a ZARbet Original slot.

Wagering is 30x the bonus. ZARbet’s own example: a R1,000 deposit earns R2,000, which must be played through R60,000 before you can withdraw. On deposits of R1,000 or less, withdrawable winnings are capped at 10x the deposit; deposits over R1,001 have no cap. So a R100 deposit gets R200 bonus, needs R6,000 of wagering and can pay out at most R1,000. Our guide to how wagering requirements work explains why 30x is a big ask.

ZARbet’s general terms word some of this differently, including claim timing and a line saying deposit funds need only be wagered once. Rely on the offer panel on the promotions page (code ZARBET, 30x the bonus) and confirm before depositing. For a sports-first deal, see our GBets bonus breakdown or all betting bonuses.

Ongoing promotions

  • Reload match: deposit R100 for a 100% match up to R2,000.
  • R100 in Free Spins: every Tuesday.
  • Prize Drops up to R20,000,000: up to 2500x on offer.
  • Race to 5 Jackpot: a R2+ wager on selected games enters five daily jackpots from R2,000 each.
  • Hourly Prize Drops: deposit R100 for cash bonuses, free spins and loyalty points.
  • VIP Experience: member rewards and curated events.

ZARbet deposits and withdrawals: easy in, slower out

The ZARbet minimum deposit is R20, and the method list is long. Withdrawals are tighter: R250 minimum, weekday payouts only, and money goes back to the original payment method.

Which withdrawal method should you use?

  • Deposit by card or EFT if you expect to withdraw; our EFT betting sites guide explains bank payouts.
  • Do not rely only on vouchers or crypto, as neither is a withdrawal route.
  • Request payouts early in the week to avoid the weekend gap.

How to withdraw from ZARbet, step by step

  1. Complete FICA.
  2. Wager your deposit at least once and finish any bonus wagering.
  3. Request at least R250 to the account you deposited from.
  4. Wait for a pending period and a finance review; ZARbet says withdrawals process within 48 hours, with payouts on weekdays.

Fees to know about

  • Deposits: ZARbet absorbs fees “in most cases”; your bank’s charges still apply.
  • Withdrawals: free once your deposit is wagered once; otherwise at least 10%, so R500 of unplayed deposit costs at least R50 to withdraw.
  • Crypto deposits: no ZARbet fee.

Payments score8.5 / 10

ZARbet Lucky Numbers, Betgames and casino games

ZARbet Lucky Numbers has its own lobby tab, capped at R1 million. Betgames titles such as Lucky 5, 6 and 7, Wheel of Fortune and Dice Duel sit alongside virtuals and game shows. For a bookmaker with 100+ Lucky Numbers draws, read our YesPlay review.

The casino is the brand’s focus, with ZARbet Originals, Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Evolution, live tables and Aviator. We do not review casino games in depth.

ZARbet app and mobile site

There is no ZARbet app. The homepage says the site is “fully optimized for both Android and iOS”, but no App Store or Google Play link is offered, so you bet through your phone’s browser. The site is a responsive web app, and Betfred also runs without an app, so ZARbet is not alone. There is no data-free version.

ZARbet customer care number and support

The ZARbet customer care number is 0860 927 238. You can also email support@zarbet.co.za or use the live chat link in the footer. Hours are not published, and there is no WhatsApp support; the footer’s WhatsApp number belongs to the National Responsible Gambling Programme. Having a phone line puts ZARbet ahead of rivals offering only chat and email.

Responsible gambling at ZARbet

ZARbet’s tools run through support rather than self-service. Deposit limits are set by contacting Customer Support and cover Capitec, card and EFT deposits, not vouchers or cash. Time-outs of one or seven days, or one or three months, can be requested by email or chat. Self-exclusion lasts at least six months or can be permanent, and may take up to 24 hours to apply.

For free, confidential help, call the National Responsible Gambling Programme on 0800 006 008 or WhatsApp 076 675 0710.

ZARbet reputation: too new for a review record

ZARbet has no HelloPeter profile and no Trustpilot page, so there are no ratings or complaint patterns to weigh. For a 2024 brand that is not alarming, but you are relying on the licence and terms rather than other punters’ experience.

The news record is clean: no reported sanctions, fines or ownership changes. Its biggest moment was sponsoring the Barbarian F.C. jersey against the Springboks in Cape Town in June 2025, which the Barbarians called the first time a South African brand had led their kit.

Tips for betting at ZARbet

  • Decide whether you want the bonus. It is a casino offer with 30x wagering; sports bettors may prefer cash only.
  • Mind the R1,000 line. Deposits of R1,000 or less cap bonus withdrawals at 10x the deposit.
  • Build to R250 before cashing out. Wager your deposit once first to avoid the fee of at least 10%.
  • Upload FICA early. Withdrawals are reversed if documents are not in within 14 days.

Is ZARbet legit and legal in South Africa?

The company appears on the board’s list of licensed bookmakers. The homepage FAQ shows 10010581-029, but the footer and WCGRB page both give -031.

Who owns ZARbet?

ZARbet is the trading name of Apollo Gaming (Pty) Ltd, a Cape Town company registered in 2024 with offices at Spaces V&A Waterfront. Its PAIA manual names William Frederick Reyneke as CEO. Shareholders and any parent group are not disclosed on the site.

What is the ZARbet promo code?

The code is ZARBET. After a first deposit of at least R20, click the Bonus button in the cashier, choose Claim a Bonus and enter it for a 200% match up to R2,000. Wagering is 30x the bonus, and on deposits of R1,000 or less winnings are capped at 10x the deposit.

Can I use the ZARbet welcome bonus on sports?

Not really. ZARbet suggests playing the bonus on ZARbet Original slots, and its general terms say deposit match bonus money cannot be used on the Sportsbook. The offer panel says all wagering counts towards the 30x requirement, but sports bettors should treat this as a casino bonus and check the terms first.

What is the ZARbet minimum deposit?

R20, which is also enough to claim the welcome bonus. Crypto deposits through MoneyBadger start at R50, and the reload offer needs R100. Methods include cards, EFT, Capitec Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Zapper and vouchers such as 1Voucher and OTT.

How long does a ZARbet withdrawal take?

ZARbet says withdrawals process within 48 hours, with payouts on weekdays only. Requests go through a pending period before the finance department reviews them. The minimum ZARbet withdrawal is R250, and money goes back to the card or bank account you deposited with.

Is there a ZARbet app?

No. ZARbet has no native app on the App Store or Google Play. The homepage says the site is optimised for Android and iOS, so you bet through your phone’s browser on the mobile site, which also shows sportsbook odds before you log in.

What is the ZARbet customer care number?

Call 0860 927 238. You can also email support@zarbet.co.za or use the live chat link in the site footer. Support hours are not published and there is no WhatsApp support line. Complaints go to Customer Service first, with a reply promised within 28 days.
